c. to deteriorate
La salud de la monja se resintió y tuvo que permanecer en cama.The nun's health deteriorated, and she had to stay in bed.
d. to be affected
La salud de mi abuelo se resintió y tuvo que ser internado.My grandfather's health was affected, and he had to be taken to the hospital.
2. (to sense; used with "de")
a. to feel
Me resiento del esguince y no puedo apoyar el pie izquierdo.I feel the sprain, and I can't walk with my left foot.
b. to feel the effects of
El guitarrista todavía se resiente de la tendinitis y no puede tocar bien.The guitar player still feels the effects of his tendonitis and can't play well.
c. to suffer
Todavía me resiento de la lesión. Ya no puedo jugar al fútbol.I still suffer from the injury. I can't play soccer anymore.
3. (to be upset)
a. to be offended
Marisa se resiente cuando hablamos de su exnovio.Marisa gets offended when we speak about her ex-boyfriend.
b. to resent
Mi hermano está celoso y se resiente que yo haya ganado el premio.My brother is jealous and resents that I won the prize.
