1. (to take pleasure; often used with "de" or "por")
a. to rejoice
Tras meses de sequía, los residentes del pueblo se regocijaron cuando cayó el chaparrón.After a drought that lasted for months, the town residents rejoiced when it started raining.
El abuelo se regocijó al ver a toda la familia junta para su cumpleaños.The grandfather rejoiced at seeing the whole family together for his birthday.
b. to delight
El tirano se regocijaba de ver sufrir a los condenados.The tyrant delighted in watching the condemned suffer.
