1. (to regulate)
a. to restrict
Restringieron el uso de celulares en las escuelas para evitar la falta de atención de los alumnos.The use of cell phones was restricted in schools to avoid the student's lack of attention.
b. to limit
Yo opino que los padres deben restringir el tiempo que sus hijos pasan delante del televisor.I think parents should limit the time their kids spend in front of TV.
A pronominal verb always uses a reflexive pronoun. (e.g. Te ves cansado.).
2. (to confine oneself)
a. to restrict oneself
Lucía se restringió de carbohidratos para perder peso.Lucia restricted herself from carbs to lose weight.
b. to limit oneself
Para dejar de comer el cerdo, me estoy restringiendo a un trozo de tocino cada día.In order to wean myself off pork, I'm limiting myself to one piece of bacon each day.
