1. (to grow smaller)
a. to be diminished
La confianza se menoscaba en una pareja cuando uno de los dos miente.Trust is diminished in a couple when one of them lies.
b. to be reduced
Con el uso de las cámaras de los celulares, se menoscaba la privacidad de los usuarios.With the use of cell phone cameras, users' privacy is reduced.

2. (to make smaller)
a. to diminish
Las manchas en el mármol menoscaban su valor comercial.The stains on the marble diminish its commercial value.
b. to lessen
La medida propuesta por el partido gobernante pretende menoscabar el daño que la nueva ley hará a las regiones más desfavorecidas.The measure proposed by the governing party aims to lessen the harm the new law will do to the most disadvantaged regions.
c. to reduce
La cantidad que tuvo que pagar después del accidente menoscabó mucho la fortuna del futbolista.The settlement he had to pay following the accident greatly reduced the football player's fortune.
3. (to ruin)
a. to damage
Los plagios cometidos por el artista menoscabaron su reputación.The artist's plagiarism damaged his reputation.
b. to harm
Las acusaciones de abusos sexuales menoscabaron la reputación del político.The accusations of sexual abuse harmed the politician's reputation.
