A word or phrase that is commonly used in conversational speech (e.g. skinny, grandma).
(colloquial)
Tener clase de matemáticas a las siete de la mañana es matador.Having math class at seven in the morning is killing.
2. (horrendous)
a. horrible
Mi novio me dijo que el vestido me quedaba matador y me aconsejó que no me lo comprara.My boyfriend said I looked horrible in the dress and he advised me not to buy it.
b. awful
El cantante eligió un traje matador para el evento y la prensa lo criticó por ello.The singer chose an awful suit for the event and the press criticized him for it.
c. terrible
¡La actriz estaba ridícula con ese traje matador!The actress looked ridiculous in that terrible outfit!
This means that the noun can be masculine or feminine, depending on the gender of person it refers to (e.g. el doctor, la doctora).
3. (bullfighting)

La gente aplaudió al matador cuando mató al toro.People applauded the matador when he killed the bull.
b. bullfighter
El matador se enfrentó al toro en la plaza.The bullfigther faced the bull in the plaza.
