A pronominal verb always uses a reflexive pronoun. (e.g. Te ves cansado.).
1. (to run out of air)
a. to go down
Tengo que detener el coche. Se desinfló la rueda delantera izquierda.I need to stop the car. The front left tire went down.
b. to deflate
Los globos que estaban inflados con helio se desinflaron.The helium balloons deflated.
c. to go flat (tire)
El neumático se desinfló, pero no está pinchado.The tire went flat, but there's no puncture.
2. (to become disheartened)
a. to lose heart
Santiago nunca se desinfló y siempre siguió adelante.Santiago never lost heart and always carried on regardless.
b. to become discouraged
La tenista joven se desinfló porque perdió el primer partido.The young tennis player became discouraged because she lost her first game.

3. (to remove the air from)
a. to deflate
Nicolás desinfló los globos y los guardó para otra fiesta.Nicolas deflated the balloons and saved them for another party.
b. to let the air out of
Desinflé el colchón inflable y lo puse debajo del sofá.I let the air out of the airbed and put it under the sofa.
c. to let down
No hace falta desinflar la rueda de la bicicleta para cambiarlo.You don't need to let the tire of the bike down to replace it.
4. (to dishearten)
a. to discourage
No dejes que las críticas negativas te desinflen.Don't be discouraged by the negative critiques.
b. to demoralize
La mala noticia la desinfló y se puso triste.The bad news demoralized her and she became sad.
c. to demoralise (United Kingdom)
Yo creía que pintaba bien, pero la reacción de la profesora me desinfló.I thought I could paint but was demoralised by my teacher's reaction.
