1. (to get lost)
a. to stray
Varias ovejas se descarriaron durante la tormenta, y los esfuerzos del perro por reagruparlas fueron en vano.Several sheep strayed during the storm, and the dog's efforts to reagroup them were in vain.
b. to lose one's way
Los excursionistas se descarriaron y tuvieron que pasar la noche en el bosque.The travelers lost their way and had to spend the night in the forest.
2. (to deviate from the right path)
a. to go astray
Aunque es cierto que te descarriaste en un momento dado de tu vida, todavía estás a tiempo de rectificar.Although it's true that you went astray at a given point in your life, you are still on time to put things right.
