Find words related to P A R T & A P A R T

The idea is to find an English word (synonym –- antonym) related to the words

P A R T & A P A R T (sustantivo, adverbio, verbo) and then write a simple sentence in English and Spanish for that word.

Or an unusual use of the word.

Examples:

He had no part in the decision.

No tomó parte en la decisión.

He parts his hair down the middle.

Lleva la raya en medio.

He’s part Italian, part Irish.

Es medio italiano, medio irlandés.

His ideas set him apart from his contemporaries.

Sus ideas le sitúan en un plano aparte de sus contemporáneos.

A mi me gusta tener una rueda de repuesto en el coche y conozco a gente que tiene un motor de repuesto entero, para tener las piezas que un día puedan necesitar.

I like to have a spare tyre in my car and I know people who have an entire spare engine, just to have the spare parts they might one day need.

La pensión que yo recibo es un fragmento de todo mi salario .

The pension that I receive is a fragment of my whole salary.

Synonym = Fragmento , fragment

Antonym= Whole ,toda

Por mi parte, siempre he pensado que “apartamento” es una palabra extraña, porque las casas están colocadas apartadas seperaradas la una de la otra, y los domicilios en un apartamento están adjuntados pegados.

For my part, I have always thought that “apartment” is a strange word, because houses are located apart from each other, and the homes in an apartment are stuck together.

I am not completely sure of some of the grammar I used. ;) - bosquederoble, Feb 6, 2015
lol, in England we have ' terraced houses'. What are they? Just stuck together in a row, no terraces in sight??? - annierats, Feb 6, 2015
:) - ian-hill, Feb 6, 2015
nosotros 'adjuntamos' papeles, archivos...mm I'd say 'las casas están separadas la una de la otra....están juntas or están pegadas... :) - Pablo064, Feb 6, 2015
I knew I was not doing well in that sentence, I had separadas first, but wanted to use apartar to contrast with apartamento. I kept pegados masculine because I am convinced it is referring to domicilios. Gracias, Tiempo. :) - bosquederoble, Feb 6, 2015
It was a hard one even in Spanish :) above all 'la una de la otra' - Pablo064, Feb 7, 2015

During our wedding we took the oath that we won't separate till death do us part .

Durante nuestra boda prestamos el juramento de que no nos separaremos antes de que la muerte nos separe.

I have to take apart this engine in order to find the part that's not working, then go to the autoparts store to buy a new one.

Tengo que desmontar este motor para hallar la parte que no funciona, luego ir a la tienda de auto partes para comprar una nueva.

(I know that in standard Spanish "part" is rendered "pieza" Here I'm using an example of espanglés.) I've seen this all over California and in parts of Mexico.

Me pregunto si mi esposa se ha cansado de la comida fusión que cocino e intenta enviarme un mensaje; anoche, de una receta (yo nunca uso una), preparó un plato que era en parte guacamole y en parte espaguetis con hongos y cebollas salteados salteadas, una combinación que nunca se me habría ocurrido.

I wonder if my wife has tired of the fusion food that I cook and is trying to send me a message; last night, from a recipe (I never use one), she cooked a dish that was in part guacamole and in part spaghetti with sautéed mushrooms and onions, a combination that would never have occurred to me.

mi esposa 'se' ha cansado or 'se cansó' or si mi esposa 'está' cansada..cebollas salteadAs.. - Pablo064, Feb 7, 2015
I see your point. Maybe she is sending you a subtle message. lol - rac1, Feb 7, 2015
Gracias, Tiempo. Quería que "salteado" se referiría tanto a "hongos" como a "cebollas"- ¿sería "cebollas y hongos salteados" o es necesario "cebollas salteadas y hongos salteados" - bosquederoble, Feb 7, 2015
yes 'cebollas y hongOs salteadOs or hongos y cebollAs salteadAs' it depends on the gender of the preceding word - Pablo064, Feb 7, 2015
Thanks, that is new learning for me, I assumed that once you mixed masculine and femenine that the masculine always predominated. Very useful. :) - bosquederoble, Feb 7, 2015
