c. to establish (facts)

d. to confirm
La policía verificó que el delincuente herido murió en el hospital.The police confirmed that the wounded robber died in hospital.
2. (to inspect)
a. to test
Antes de despegar, el piloto verificó los alerones y el timón de cola.The pilot tested the flaps and the tail rudder before taking off.
b. to check
El mecánico verificó los frenos y no funcionaban.The mechanic checked the brakes and they weren't working.
3. (finance)
a. to audit
No le otorgaron permiso para verificar la cuenta bancaria de su pareja.He was not granted permission to audit his spouse's bank account.
4. (to hold)

5. (to be examined)
