A transitive verb is a verb that requires a direct object (e.g. I bought a book.).
1. (to obstruct)
a. to block
Las tuberías están atrancadas por una bola de grasa.The pipes are blocked by a ball of grease.
b. to block up
La maraña de pelos de la bañera atrancó el desagüe.The tangle of hair in the bathtub blocked up the drain.
c. to clog
No dejes que los posos del café bajen por el desagüe porque lo pueden atrancar.Don't let the coffee grounds go down the drain because they can clog it.
2. (to bolt)
a. to bar
El ladrón atrancó la puerta para que la policía no pudiera entrar a la casa.The thief barred the door so the police could not enter the house.

A pronominal verb always uses a reflexive pronoun. (e.g. Te ves cansado.).
3. (to be obstructed)
a. to get blocked
Las cañerías se atrancaron debido a una acumulación de algún residuo.The pipes got blocked because of a buildup of some residue.
b. to get clogged
Llamamos al plomero porque el desagüe del fregadero se atrancó.We called the plumber because the drain of the kitchen sink got clogged.
