A transitive verb is a verb that requires a direct object (e.g. I bought a book.).

c. to destroy

d. to obliterate
Los bombarderos aniquilaron las defensas de la fortaleza.The bombers obliterated the fortress' defenses.
e. to crush (the rival team)
Alemania aniquiló a Brasil por 7 a 1 y avanzó a la final.Germany crushed Brazil 7-1 and moved to the final.
2. (to emotionally destroy)
a. to destroy
El candidato conservador aniquiló al socialista en el debate.The Conservative candidate destroyed his Socialist counterpart in the debate.
b. to crush
Mis padres aniquilaron mi sueño de ser una estrella de rock.My parents crushed my dream of becoming a rock star.
c. to obliterate
Mi rival en el debate me aniquiló con más hechos y cifras concretas.My rival in the debate obliterated me with more concrete facts and figures.
A pronominal verb always uses a reflexive pronoun. (e.g. Te ves cansado.).

3. (to worsen)
a. to deteriorate
La salud de mi abuelo se aniquiló y ahora está hospitalizado.My grandfather's health deteriorated and he is now in the hospital.
b. to decline
El valor de mi propiedad se aniquiló un 13%.The value of my property declined by 13%.
