Written Translation Excercise - "Examina bien el camino por donde quieres andar"
Well I'm going to venture into contributing an exercise. There was a good discussion about the idea in Edgedonkey's post here and the idea seemed to be popular. Since then Carlos-F has come up with a fantastic idea for exercise in listening and translating. (If you haven't already tried it check this out!)
This will be written translation exercise, for beginners to intermediate learners. But anyone is welcome to participate. Do your best to translate these two short paragraphs, then post your answer. Even if you get part of it, post it! Keep in mind that since others may have already posted answers before you, you could look at their answers first... but... Where's the fun in that? 
Examina bien el camino por donde quieres andar
Imagina que vas a viajar lejos de tu casa. Antes de hacerlo es probable que consultes un mapa para decidir la mejor ruta. Algo parecido sucede cuando lo que estás planeando es tu futuro. Como joven, tienes ante ti muchísimas posibilidades. ¿Cómo elegir entre tantas opciones? Todo es cuestión de metas.
Piensa en una meta como si fuera el destino de tu viaje. Si vas dando tumbos de acá para allá, seguramente no la alcanzarás nunca. Es mucho mejor que consigas un mapa y, por decirlo así, traces tu camino. En los próximos años tomarás muchas decisiones importantes. Para poder tomar las mejores decisiones, primero has de saber hacia dónde te diriges.
I'm thinking about doing this every other week or so, maybe more often (or less) depending on the amount of interest shown and positive feedback received. So let me know what you think.

In the coming years you will have to make many important decisions. In order to make the best decisions, first you have to know where you are headed.

It’s much better to get a map, and, after consulting it, go your way. Within a couple of years you’ll make a few important decisions. However, to do it, in the first place you have to know where you want to go.

Well I don't know about you, but I sure enjoyed participating in this exercise! 
Everyone did so well. Most revisited their posts and refined their translation. One of the objectives I had in mind while reviewing them was: "Is this how a native English speaker would say it?" There are certainly variations in how we all word our ideas. But I feel translating should accurately express ideas, not necessarily words, and should flow well in the target language.
I picked Lorenzo9's answer as the 'best' although Margaret, Sheila and Dandi were all close second's. Here is the 'answer':

As a young person, you have many possibilities before you. How do you sort through so many options? It’s all about goals.
Think of a goal as if it were your destination. You will certainly not reach it by wandering about aimlessly. It is far better to pull out a map and plot your course, so to speak. In the coming years, you will make many important decisions. In order to make the best ones you first need to know where you are headed.
