An intransitive verb is one that does not require a direct object (e.g. The man sneezed.).
1. (to make the sound of certain birds)
a. to caw (crow or raven)
Los búhos ululaban y los cuervos graznaban.The owls hooted and the crows cawed.
El grajo graznó tres veces y cerró los ojos.The rook cawed three times and shut its eyes.
b. to croak (crow or raven)
Era una escena tenebrosa. Había luna llena y los cuervos graznaban.It was a scary scene. There was a full moon and the crows croaked.
c. to quack (duck)
Los patos en el estanque graznaban como si me pidieran que les arroje más pedazos de pan.The ducks in the pond quacked as if they were asking me for more pieces of bread.
d. to honk (goose)
Los gansos graznaron cuando me acerqué a los huevos.The geese honked when I came close to the eggs.
2. (to screech)
a. to squawk
¡La banda necesita un nuevo cantante! Ese tipo solo sabe graznar.The band needs a new singer! That guy can only squawk.
b. to croak
"¡Quítanse del camino, chamacos!" graznó el viejito."Out of the way, whippersnappers!" croaked the old man.
