A transitive verb is a verb that requires a direct object (e.g. I bought a book.).
1. (to make out of metal)
a. to mint (coin)
Tras ganar su independencia, la pequeña nación caribeña comenzó a acuñar sus propias monedas.After gaining its independence, the small Caribbean nation started minting its own coins.

2. (to invent)
a. to coin (word, expression, term)
El dictador acuñó un eslogan que sus seguidores siguen repitiendo hoy en día.The dictator coined a slogan that his followers are still repeating today.
3. (to use a wedge)
a. to wedge
Acuñé la puerta con una piedra.I wedged the door with a stone.
b. to wedge open
La estatua nos sirvió para acuñar la puerta mientras entrábamos las compras.We used the statue to wedge the door open while we were bringing in the shopping.
c. to wedge shut
Si la puerta sigue abriéndose solo, tendrás que acuñarla.If the door keeps coming open, you'll need to wedge it shut.
A pronominal verb always uses a reflexive pronoun. (e.g. Te ves cansado.).
4. (to bang oneself)
