a. to annul 
El juez anuló el matrimonio porque una de las partes seguía legalmente casada con otra persona.The judge annulled the marriage because one of the parties was still legally married to another person.
b. to repeal 
El proyecto de ley busca anular la ley que restringe el acceso completo a Internet.The bill aims to repeal the legislation that restricts full access to the internet.
c. to rescind 
Ambas partes acordaron anular el contrato.Both parties agreed to rescind the contract.
d. to declare null and void 
El tribunal anuló el testamento.The court declared the will null and void.
e. to cancel 
El juez anuló el contrato debido al incumplimiento de una de las partes.The judge canceled the contract as a result of a breach by one of the parties.

a. to disallow 
Ronaldo estaba en posición adelantada. El árbitro anuló el gol.Ronaldo was offside. The referee disallowed the goal.
4. (to exceed)
a. to destroy 
Nos anularon porque sus jugadores eran más altos y más rápidos.They destroyed us because all their players were taller and faster.
A masculine noun is used with masculine articles and adjectives (e.g., el hombre guapo, el sol amarillo).

a. ring-shaped 
Levanté la copa de vino y vi una mancha anular en el mantel.I picked up my wine glass and saw there was a ring-shaped stain on the tablecloth.
