¡Oye, hombre! Hay algo raro que está creciendo del techo. ¿Qué es y cómo se lo quita?

Hey man! There is something strange growing from the ceiling. What is it and how do you get rid of it?

Often "cuál" is used before ser with questions. In this case, however, I believe "qué" is correct because it is like asking for a definition.

Yes, and I added the "surplus to requirements" that to the English as well. :) - ian-hill, Jul 31, 2017
I noticed that :) I like the phrase "surplus to requirements" It sounds so much more sophisticated than optional. :) - DilKen, Jul 31, 2017

So many noodles will be enough for the whole village this year.

The noodles are prepared to be sold to consumers. La pasta se prepara para venderla a los consumidores.

NKM. preparadoS :) vender may be OK. I would have written venderlos. (sell them) - DilKen, Jul 31, 2017
Looking at the dictionary entry for vender, I'm fairly convinced that you should include the los. This verb is normally transitive (requiring a direct object) and I don't think Los fideos can become the direct object by implication in Spanish. - DilKen, Jul 31, 2017
I hope without any added substances, like hair. jejeje I know, my bad. :) - rac1, Jul 31, 2017

Los cientificos ahora pueden crecer el pelo artificial que, por una coincidencia divertida, tiene el color y el grosor de cabello de ángel pasta.

Scientists can now grow artificial hair which, by an amusing coincidence, has the color and thickness of angel hair pasta.

Sassette. There are two words which are very popular in Spanish...que and de. I think you need one of each in your sentence. Let's see if you can figure out where :) - DilKen, Jul 31, 2017
wow, ken, this is amazing...I had no idea what sas meant....you understood her right there and then. wow, that is really something else. and you are right, actually, with que and de the problem will be solved, wonderful - 006595c6, Jul 31, 2017
Heidita: It's probably because the English is perfect without that and of and I've made the same mistake many times. :) - DilKen, Jul 31, 2017
Sassette, since Heidita didn't give you the actual placement of the que and de I will if you give up. Just say uncle :) - DilKen, Jul 31, 2017
Sassette: this is one case where I think using "yo" would actually be a nice touch, and I would prefer it after Digo instead of before in this case in the Spanish. - DilKen, Jul 31, 2017
I won't cry "UUUUUncle" yet. I'll look at it now. :) - Sassette, Aug 1, 2017
Perfecto - DilKen, Aug 1, 2017
I share the omission of "que / de" issue Sassy. My trick with is to include them whenever "that / of" can be squeezed into the English. More often than not it works. - jellonz, Aug 1, 2017
What nuance does placing the subject pronoun after the verb create Ken? - jellonz, Aug 1, 2017
Jellonz: It isn't very common, but it is sort of like underlining and bolding the I at the beginning of the sentence in English. Or when speaking, saying I louder and longer before continuing with the rest of the sentence. - DilKen, Aug 1, 2017
Good to know. Thanks Ken. - jellonz, Aug 1, 2017
Thanks jellonz and Ken! I assumed that was the case with yo being an emphasis, not that it's required. It fits here. :) - Sassette, Aug 1, 2017
