Hello Everybody! Welcome to the Picture of the Day! This is a game where you can all practice your Spanish and English, but still have fun at the same time! Post your comments/titles/captions to this picture (both in Spanish and English) and vote for the responses you like. The best answer will be chosen soon on the basis of the answer I feel is the best, the fact that the person has corrected their post and possibly the number of votes. Please, give everyone a chance and only post more or less one caption and no photos. . Please encourage everyone with a vote. . .Please help each other with your English/Spanish sentences. And above all, have fun.

Previous Picture of the day: Just hanging.

Hey mate, same to you amigo. :) - Nickelbackfan1, Mar 27, 2017
Gracias Nicki xx - ian-hill, Mar 27, 2017
Is it just me, or does the picture of the day most often only get chosen as best answer if the person has a lot of votes, and that makes it a matter of whatever's on top. I'm not saying this to be insulting or rude, I just think it's a bit too biased. - infamousvictorian569, Mar 27, 2017
I agree. - Lone_coyote, Mar 27, 2017
@infamousvict You are correct! I wish there was no voting because of that but virtually everyone likes voting. Timing is one of a number of factors: the earlier entries typically vote better. - Sassette, Mar 27, 2017
...I hope you would try to vote for others because it does help the site. We both might not like the voting system but it's here to stay. I don't view the top vote getters as necessarily being the best answers anyway. It's all subjective too. :) - Sassette, Mar 27, 2017
One more comment: I provided feedback to request that voting be gotten rid of on games. It would help if anyone feels the same way to provide feedback too. - Sassette, Mar 28, 2017
The winner is not predicated on just the number of votes, but how the word has been used on La Palabra - rac1, Mar 29, 2017
Del Dia. Here it is done that way because you, the members are the ones that choose the best answer by your voting, not us. - rac1, Mar 29, 2017
I rarely accept best answers by votes. - Nickelbackfan1, Mar 29, 2017

No apostrophe in "its" when it's a possessive pronoun, only when it's a contraction of "it is." - AnnRon, Mar 29, 2017

It seems to me that this elephant also wants to progress with time and needs a mobile phone.

many years ago we called this a "trunk call".

Definition of trunk call. British, old-fashioned. : a long-distance telephone call for which the caller must pay an extra amount of money.

Hey Ray. I would have use the imperfect here llamábamos. We used to call... But, since it is clear that the time time period you're talking about is over, preterite is probably OK as well. - DilKen, Mar 27, 2017
Ray, I would say: Llamábamos esta una llamaada de larga distancia. I hope this helps :) - FELIZ77, Mar 27, 2017
Ken, I would agree with you that the imperfect indiicative would be better here as Ray in effect is saying that we used to call it (imperfect) a trunk call - FELIZ77, Mar 27, 2017
Ray, you need éstA (demonstrative pronoun with accent on the e: 'this' one) not este as llamada is a feminine noun. I hope this helps :) - FELIZ77, Mar 27, 2017
Feliz: Are you aware that the RAE has decreed that the accent is not necessary on the pronoun form if there is no chance of confusion? I think with or without is OK here :) - DilKen, Mar 27, 2017
Ha! Good one! But check your capitalization and punctuation. - AnnRon, Mar 27, 2017
Ken, Yes I has forgottentjat point, thanks for the reminder :) - FELIZ77, Mar 27, 2017
Estoy muy confundido , booo flamin boo. - ray76, Mar 27, 2017
I could not find the word troncal anywhere in Oxford Spanish Dictionary - FELIZ77, Mar 27, 2017
Thanks to Ken and Feliz. I'm learning from you two :) - Sassette, Mar 27, 2017
Thanks Feliz , I followed your advice , but am surprised you could not find "troncal" . - ray76, Mar 28, 2017
Ray, what I meat is that the word troncal does not translate as trunk call Trunk call es llamada de larga distancia ;) - FELIZ77, Mar 28, 2017
The word 'llamada' (typo) Should have one a , not two! ;) - FELIZ77, Mar 28, 2017

No te preocupes.

Don't worry, The phone should show up again in a few days. We'll let you clean up after the elephants and go through their droppings until you find it.

o no tomes*

The mother elephant "How many times do I have to tell you not to take photos of me or my family with your camera?!"

The woman: "Yes, but it's not just a camera, but it's also 'smart phone'!"

The mother elephant: " It doesn't matter to me what it's called! ! It's obvious that your mobile phone is much smarter than you are, at least it can follow instructions and learn from its mistakes!" wink

There's an elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about on the phone.

There's a saying elephant in the room meaning that there is an obvious problem or risk that no one wants to talk about.
