The young scientist is learning about cause and effect:

The (female) dog: " Let's see, I wonder what would happen if I pulled on (were to pull on) this shoe lace here? I believe that I could remove this lace from this boot! Now, if I succeeded, this could be a major scientific breakthrough for the world of dogs!"
