Hello Everybody! Welcome to the Picture of the Day! enter image description here

This is a game where we can practice our Spanish and English, but still have fun at the same time!

Our picture of the day comes from Waidh Thanks, amiga. smile

The rules are very simple and remain more or less exactly as RelaxingCup designed them and H C A student continued.

  • Post your comments/titles/captions to this picture (both in Spanish and English) and vote for the responses you like. The best answer will be chosen soon on the basis of the greatest number of votes as well as the language accuracy.

  • Please, give everyone a chance and only post more or less one caption and no photos.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile

. .Please help each other with your English/Spanish sentences. And above all, have fun!

Hey he got himself a new car you have to give him that. :) - Nickelbackfan1, Jan 14, 2016
I agree with Nickel, he is doing fantatically well. - annierats, Jan 14, 2016
Thought for Today: If the conductor of a game defeats all to end up at the top, then why should others play the game? This is just a point to ponder. I am not the judge. :) - Raja-jani, Jan 14, 2016
For the heck of it mate, who cares who wins it was fun. :) - Nickelbackfan1, Jan 14, 2016
You know that the person who runs the game cannot pick themselves as a winner, right? It is not allowed. Just so you know. - quantifier, Jan 15, 2016
Look back. Has she ever picked herself as a winner? - quantifier, Jan 15, 2016
..como camionero (not article for professions in Spanish but it is not thaat crazy if you use it)..no fue bien.. ;) - Pablo064, Jan 15, 2016
Thanks, Pablo! I have appreciated all your corrections and your patience for the last many months. I thank you personally for all your corrections for everyone on this site. You are a mystery. I wish we could email you and get to know you. - sanlee, Jan 15, 2016
I think Sandy should win anyway!!! She has the best answer. ♥♥♥ - rac1, Jan 15, 2016
Si she does. :) - Nickelbackfan1, Jan 15, 2016
Sanlee , has Pablo stopped giving his corrections? :( - FELIZ77, Jan 15, 2016
Well, the conductor of the game didn't give herself all those votes. Others appreciated her answer enough to vote for her. She can't control how many votes she gets, and as others have pointed out, she can't select herself as the winner. - AnnRon, Jan 15, 2016

Conductor del coche: ¡Ay! ¡Caramba!

Driver of the car: Oy! Bl..dy h..l ! When I prayed to not be in this cursed traffic jam any longer this is not what I meant.

“Sometimes the Angels punish us by answering our prayers.”

Driving is a real drag.

Conducir es una verdadera pereza.

Conducir es una verdadera lata.

Thank you all for your assistance it is valued.

I had 4 other Ticos take a look at what I wrote and they said it is fine. So it is not understood by all Spanish speaking countries but it is a common use of "pereza" in Costa Rica. Maybe it's slang, who knows. Also, I asked about the use of "lata" and "bollo" in the same sentence and they did not make sence to them in this context. In CR, perezoso is commonly used for lazy.

Thanks again

I don't "get" the Spanish. "Pereza" means laziness or idleness. A lazy person is called "un perezoso." The English pun is good, though. - Daniela2041, Jan 14, 2016
Muy listo. - annierats, Jan 14, 2016
Love the pun. May I suggest for the Spanish "una verdadera lata" or "un verdadero rollo"? - AnnRon, Jan 14, 2016
Great! I hope Andreknue sees this and makes the change! - Daniela2041, Jan 15, 2016
In Colombia they use 'que pereza' for 'que bajón/garrón/lata/rollo/etc :) - Pablo064, Jan 15, 2016
Good to know, Pablo. - AnnRon, Jan 15, 2016
In Costa Rica 'qué pereza' translates to 'what a drag' or 'bummer' - 00551866, Jan 15, 2016

Very interesting. I wonder when the truck driver is going to discover that he has a car sticking to his back bumper.

Small car driver: Help! I do not want to go this way!

Truck driver: Stay out of my things. At the end of my road, and I shall unhook you and I let you go.

Driver's boss speaking to the driver, later in hospital: "When I asked you to take my wife to the railway station, this is not exactly what I had in mind! You could have at least allowed her to get out of (leave) her car first!"

Editor's note/s: In my continuation of the story, the driver arranged to meet his boss in the hospital but the driver wasn't injured! wink I'm sure that you can all guess the likely outcome for the driver! They would have also prosecuted the driver for at least careless, if not dangerous driving!

When the truck driver texted me to ask whether I wanted to hook up, this wasn't exactly what I thought he had in mind.

That truck will now be overweight when it reaches the weigh station.
