Hello Everybody! Welcome to the Picture of the Day! enter image description here

> Hola amigos, I would like to share a translation with you done by SD members in Duolingo. It is the English to Spanish translation of "White House Christmas Tree" by Josep, Waidh, Quantifier and myself. This has no Spanish translation in Wikipedia and we hope to be able to add it to the collection. Here it is. Enjoy.White House Christmas Tree This is a game where we can practice our Spanish and English, but still have fun at the same time!

The rules are very simple and remain more or less exactly as RelaxingCup designed them and H C A student continued.

  • Post your comments/titles/captions to this picture (both in Spanish and English) and vote for the responses you like. The best answer will be chosen soon on the basis of the greatest number of votes as well as the language accuracy.

  • Please, give everyone a chance and only post more or less one caption and no photos.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile

. .Please help each other with your English/Spanish sentences. And above all, have fun!

I told my wife, "All the best places begin with www and end with dot com." But noooooooooo, she wouldn't listen!

At Christmas in a city the streets are always full of people who are running after purchases and it is not so comfortable when it's raining.

Porcu, I think the word order should be: siempre son etc....(not son siempre) Let's see what Pablo says ;) - FELIZ77, Dec 13, 2015
;) - jrschenk, Dec 13, 2015
.... siempre están llenas .... corre ("gente" is singular) ...... /esto ..... cómodo (abstract things are neuter gender) "lloviendo" is OK but it sounds like English - better "cuando llueve" Back to you, Pablo ...................... - 005faa61, Dec 14, 2015
Very good English, Porcu :) - sanlee, Dec 14, 2015

"Zoológico" en este caso no tiene sentido. Podrías decir "lío, enredo, desmadre" etc - 005faa61, Dec 13, 2015
:) - Pablo064, Dec 14, 2015
:) Very inventive. Thank you correctors. - sanlee, Dec 14, 2015
A lot of wild animals (humans). Looks like a zoo to me. - gringojrf, Dec 14, 2015
Normally I would use desmadre for this but I had to stay true to the statement. - gringojrf, Dec 14, 2015

Human nature is to procrastinate with everything that one is able to, but the truth is that I used to go shopping in October for Christmans until I realized that they lower the prices when they worry about selling everything at the last moments, so that now I go shopping late with everyone else.

Lady on the extreme right of the photo: "Oh heck! I thought that if I started (were to start) doing the Christmas shopping early I could avoid the crowds ...but it seems to me that everyone else had the same idea, today!"

en el extremo derecho de..creí/pensé que si comenzaba..compras de navidad..muchedumbre/amontonamiento would fit better but it is okay anyway :D..el mundo 'tuvo' la.. 'tuve' is for first person snigular - Pablo064 19 hrs ago

Child: Mama, why does the song say they're dreaming of a white Christmas? Christmas colors are red and green, aren't they?

Mother: Well, many years ago, before global warming, there used to be something white called snow. Now it always rains instead.

..rojo y verde..del calentamiento..había algo blanco 'que se llamaba/llamado' nieve..it's okay but this would do it more natural 'En cambio ahora siempre llueve' ;) - Pablo064, Dec 14, 2015

Well, I keep saying,"maybe tomorrow". The best thing would have been to be finished already.

City sidewalks busy sidewalks

Dressed in holiday style

In the air there is a feeling

of Christmas

Children laughing

People passing

Meeting smile after smile

And on every street corner you'll hear

**Silver bells (silver bells)

It's Christmas time in the city

Ring- a- ling, ring-a-ling (hear them sing, hear them sing.)

Soon it will be Christmas day**

Las banquetas, ocupadadas

Vestidas para las fiestas

Se siente que La Navidad se acerca.

Los niños ríen, la gente pasa,

Saludando a todos con una sonrisa.

Y en cada esquina oirás

**Campanas da plata, campanas de plata

Es la Navidad en la ciudad.

Rin-a rin, rin-a rin, oídles cantar,

When do you know that Christmas is almost here?

For me it is when the Jacaranda trees are in full bloom.

Now I can think of buying some gifts.

It's a good time to travel far away to a country where they don't celebrate Christmas by shopping.
