This is a game where we can practice our Spanish and English, but still have fun at the same time!

The rules are very simple and remain more or less exactly as RelaxingCup designed them and H C A student continued.

  • Post your comments/titles/captions to this picture (both in Spanish and English) and vote for the responses you like. The best answer will be chosen soon on the basis of the greatest number of votes as well as the language accuracy.

  • Please, give everyone a chance and post one or so captions and no photos.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile

. .Please help each other with your English/Spanish sentences. And above all, have fun!

The true reason that Switzerland has not been invaded is that their plan of defense consists of lining the populace up around the borders with alphorns, which they will play to repel the enemy.

The size does not matter, but what you do with it is important.

I guess this is one time it is acceptable to blow your own horn.

For English learners, to "blow your own horn" means that you talk about how good you are at something. Example: "I don't mean to blow my own horn, but I've never lost a trial in my entire career." (I wish that were true!! wink )

Pablo, perhaps you can explain the Spanish part of Annie's post to me. is it that grandmothers always say good things about their grandchildren? - Winkfish, Sep 2, 2015
I didn't see yours, winky! Great, between both of them, all is explained. The abuela blows your horn for you, she is so proud of you.. - annierats, Sep 2, 2015

Horn of plenty, horns for song, horns for courtship, one hundred strong.

Parece que no tengan abuelas.

It seems they have to blow their own horns.

mi no entender - Pablo064, Sep 2, 2015
Cheers Pablo peligroso, sorry Pablo, maybe this saying does not exist in Arentina: Tener abuela,s somebody who is always proud of you, somebody to blow your horn? - annierats, Sep 2, 2015
To blow your own horn: To boast, to make people notice you. Sorry, I haven't got a link, Pablo, but the saying should come up on Google, it is standard and common. - annierats, Sep 2, 2015

I said 'the horn of plenty', not ' plenty of horns'.

It is a special orchestra. How lucky they play their instruments on the field, because the walls of an assembly hall would collapse.
