Hello Everybody! Welcome to the Picture of the Day!

This is a game where we can practice our Spanish and English, but still have fun at the same time!

The rules are very simple and remain more or less exactly as RelaxingCup designed them and H C A student continued.

  • Post your comments/titles/captions to this picture (both in Spanish and English) and vote for the responses you like. The best answer will be chosen soon on the basis of the greatest number of votes as well as the language accuracy.

  • Please, give everyone a chance and only post more or less one caption and no photos.

.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile

.

.Please help each other with your English/Spanish sentences. And above all, have fun!

Here is the previous Picture of the Day:

Picture of the day: determination

"And here is the Picture of the Day".

  • Mientras él ladra, su perro piensa: "¿Qué habré hecho mal?"
  • While he is barking, his dog thinks: "What have I done wrong?"

The dog: What we need is a Facebook page so that everybody might vote ' thumbs down' and find me a better home, one with less noise and more food.

I guess it's like we say 'dog-meal'..It is sold as pienso in stores. I asked for comida para peros and they looked blank. Pineso? Sí, claro.. - annierats, Sep 1, 2015

No importa si tocas bien o mal.

An old trick I learned at uni for attracting girls. They like a boy who plays the guitar & they like dogs. It doesn't matter if you play well or badly. When I look at this picture & at the dog's face, I would say this lad doesn't play well.

So, correct Enlgish prohibits my getting a vote, eh? When I taught English, "than him" would lose points for the student on an assignment or on a test.. - Daniela2041, Jul 10, 2015
A lot of what was perceived a substandard English is being received as "acceptable" in today's speech. I am soing to seek Sir Ian's opinion on this. - Daniela2041, Jul 10, 2015
typo " I am going" - Daniela2041, Jul 10, 2015
I have PM'd Sir Ian regarding this. He is the expert in all matters of English grammar on this site. I will admit defeat and tear up a few of my English grammar books if he sides with you. How did I ever get straignt "A's" in English?--no sé. - Daniela2041, Jul 10, 2015
Better than he does.. Yep, what is the problem? Don't rely on Shakespeare , he lacks street cred these days.. - annierats 11 secs ago delete | flag Add Comment - annierats, Jul 10, 2015

Daniela, Annie is correct: better than he does, or better than him :) - FELIZ77, Jul 10, 2015
I knew that I should have added "does" but I didn't think it was absolutely necessary, and I still don't. Sir Ian and Ken both say that "he" is correct, but offer "him" as an acceptable alternative. - Daniela2041, Jul 10, 2015

"Feisty Yank Sheila" Awww! That't the nicest thing any one has ever said to me. ♥♥ - Daniela2041, Jul 11, 2015
Daniela, you were right the first time. "Better than he..." is an elliptical clause, meaning that there is an implied word left out, i.e. - Winkfish, Aug 31, 2015
Pressed a wrong button. The iplied word here is "does" as in "Better than he does.." "Better than him" is never correct the way it is being used here as a comparison. - Winkfish, Aug 31, 2015
That's not to say that it isn't used a lot. And I'm giving you a vote! BTW, how does one make an "n" with the squiggly on top in the comments? - Winkfish, Aug 31, 2015
Hi, Wink! Use "alt 0241" español. Easy♥ - Daniela2041, Aug 31, 2015

It is the last time I leave him the guitar. He plays so bad that i am sure, that today we will not have dinner .Thought the dog.

This is the last time I let him have the guitar. He plays so poorly I'm sure we won't have dinner today, thought the dog. (Revised)

Txelis: Good to see you again. When you correct a sentence like this, it is best if you leave the original and then copy and paste the correct sentence below it and label it "Revised" That way others can better learn from the corrections. - DilKen, Jul 10, 2015
When I say "a sentence like this" I am referring to sentences that have many corrections. - DilKen, Jul 10, 2015
If a sentence only requires a few corrections, the best way to do it is to **bold** added words and to < s >strike through< / s > deleted words. Omit the extra spaces that I used here when striking through. - DilKen, Jul 10, 2015
I made a mistake in my corrected sentence. I should have said "He plays so poorly..." instead of "He plays so bad..." His playing is so bad would be correct, but badly or poorly should be used as an adverb. I prefer poorly to badly but either would be OK. - DilKen, Jul 10, 2015
:)) - Soybeba, Jul 10, 2015

It is true that the dog listens to its owner philosophically; It is very likely that it is not enchanted by his voice.

Almost nothing to do with the picture... why are dogs so beautiful? See that sweet face!

My owner barks all day long. Someone should spray him with a hose.

Thanks Pablo. I was 50/50 on that choice. What if I said "I've been happy today" I would guess estado would be correct in that case because I am clearly talking about a temporary condition and not a characteristic. - DilKen, Jul 10, 2015

I recognize the connection. It's just that sometimes the English idioms just don't fly in Spanish. --And vice versa. When was the last time you took a "rooster" to your beloved. In Spanish that means to "serenade" someone. - Daniela2041, Jul 10, 2015
Daniella: I understood your suggestion. I just decided to stay with dog because their is a sleeping dog in the pictture. I probably should have made it clear that I was taking the dog's point of view. - DilKen, Jul 11, 2015

La noche de un día duro , gramaticaly is perfect, but we would say "la noche tras un duro día ". I think it works better in spanish - 000a35ff, Jul 11, 2015

I only have to practice a little more here in the streets before being ready do an audition in order to be the next American Idol.

He dicho.

All of animals are philosophers and sages, except the human animal whose specie has very few philosophers; the great Greek and German philosophers were amateur philosophers if we compared with any cat or dog, including Socrates and Epicurus. I would follow, but don't have space and also the computer is blocked. I have said.
