Weekend Subjunctive Practice 25: Es probable que

Question

¡Bienvenido a nuestro hilo! Each weekend, Cordobesa and I will present a different topic on everybody’s favorite subject… the subjunctive!

We will give an explanation of the topic, and a couple of examples.

Write sentences at least 5 words long. Write your Spanish sentence, and include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by Cordobesa in the comments section. Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.)

Post pictures if you’d like, and don’t forget to vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the topic as well as the number of votes.

Weekend Subjunctive Practice 25: Es probable que

Explanation:

Just like with other phrases that express a subjective opinion, “es probable que” is followed by the subjunctive, as seen in the example below.

Examples:

Es probable que este sea nuestro último hilo durante algún tiempo, porque tengo que prepararme para mi viaje a España y para el examen DELE. ¡Deseadme suerte!

This will probably be our last thread for some time, because I have to prepare for my trip to Spain and for the DELE exam. Wish me luck!

Es probable que Tosh sepa mucho español. Espero que sea suficiente para el examen. No creo que el examen vaya a ser demasiado difícil para él. Es probable que yo pueda escribir más oraciones en el subjuntivo, pero voy a terminar ahora.

It is probable that Tosh knows a lot of Spanish. I hope that it is enough for the exam. I don't think that the exam will be too difficult for him. It is probable that I can write more sentences in the subjunctive, but I will finish now.

Es probable que si hiciera ejercicio en el gimnasio perdiera peso y me sintiera mejor, pero como no me gusta hacer gimnasia es probable que mo goze de estos beneficios en el futuro más cercano.

It's likely that if I exercised in the gym, I would lose weight and feel better, but, as I don't like going to the gym it is probable that I won't enjoy these benefits in the near future.

Quizá haya gente que piense que la nueva princesa la van a llamar 'Charlotte', pero si yo estuviera en la piel de Kate Middleton, la llamaría 'Lidia'
