Weekend Subjunctive Practice 19: Posibilidad de que
¡Bienvenido a nuestro hilo! Each weekend, Cordobesa and I will present a different topic on everybody’s favorite subject… the subjunctive!
We will give an explanation of the topic, and a couple of examples.
Write sentences at least 5 words long. Write your Spanish sentence, and include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by Cordobesa in the comments section. Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.)
Post pictures if you’d like, and don’t forget to vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the topic as well as the number of votes.

Weekend Subjunctive Practice 19: Posibilidad de que
Explanation:
It is easy to see why the phrases that contain “posibilidad de que” are followed by the subjunctive. “There is a possibility that” or “there is a chance that” definitely shows that there is some doubt about the rest of the sentence.
- Hay una posibilidad de que…
- Existe la posibilidad de que…
- Cabe la posibilidad de que...
Don’t forget that you have to use “de” in this phrase, like we have seen in the past with “alegrarse de que”.
Examples:
Necesitamos más dinero y hay una posibilidad de que tengamos que vender nuestro coche.
We need more money and there is a possibility that we have to sell our car.
No os preocupéis, si los dos necesitáis zapatos nuevos, existe la posibilidad de que podamos ir al centro comercial mañana.
Don’t worry, if you both need new shoes, there is a chance that we will be able to go to the mall tomorrow.
