Find words related to C O O K

Find words related to C O O K

The idea is to find an English word (synonym –- antonym related to the word –

C O O K (verbo, sustantivo) and then write a simple sentence in English and Spanish for that word.

Or an unusual use of the word.

Example:

I can’t come to the phone, I’m cooking.

No me puedo poner, estoy haciendo la comida.

These potatoes aren’t cooked.

Las patatas no están hechas.

Pictures are a good idea. (but I can't post any just now - photobucket has stopped working on my PC) smile

This link might help you find some ideas

Don't forget the verb "to cook" to prepare food, usually using heat

We are currently looking for a corrector for the Spanish sentences. If you are interested, please send me a PM. In the meantime, please help each other as you are able.

I think I can manage to be the corrector for the English ?

Please encourage everyone by voting for them and me. wink

This was the previous challenge.

Unusual usage

Cook the books

Amañar las cuentas

A algunas empresas les gusta contratar a contadores que están dispuestos a amañar las cuentas.

Some companies like to hire accountants that are willing to cook the books.

En los Esatdos Unidos la palabra 'cookie' quiere decir 'galleta' mientras que donde vivo 'cooky' quiere decir 'extraño' o 'loco' y una 'galleta' es un 'biscuit'...

In America the word 'cookie' means a sweet baked treat while where I live 'cooky' means 'odd' or 'crazy' and a sweet baked treat is called a 'biscuit'...

But that's just the way the cookie crumbles...

¡ Pero qué se le va a hacer !

Not in this kilt... It's much too windy today !! ;-) - Faldaesque, Feb 3, 2015
Interesting, in the US it's cookie and kooky pronounced slighty different. - 00551866, Feb 3, 2015
I think the spellings are both correct alternatives like 'curb' & 'kerb' for the edge of a pavement/sidewalk... - Faldaesque, Feb 3, 2015

Por que no vienes a cenar con nosotros este fin de semana, es que el nuevo cocinero que tenemos es estupendo.

Why don't you come to dine with us this weekend, our new cook is just amazing!

Se han cocinado así mismos en la playa.

Han tomado demasiado sol en la playa.

They have cooked themselves on the beach.

So I understand "así mismos" is redundant and can be dropped. Why is the "se" dropped for the second? - 00551866, Feb 3, 2015
And thank you. - 00551866, Feb 3, 2015

It was broiling hot on the beach that day, so we took along cold drinks and rented an umbrella.

Hacía un calor abrassador en la playa ese día, así que nos llevamos de bebidas frías y alquilamos una sombrilla.

(Corrections to Spanish appreciated. I have a feeling it might not be quite as simple as I've made it.)

¡A veces me gusta comer patatas asadas (o al horno) porque puedes comerlas con queso, con mayonesa, con judías en salsa de tomate y /o muchas otras cosas! smile ¡Qué delicioso!

Sometimes I like to eat baked potatoes because you can eat them with cheese, mayonaise, baked beans and/or many other things! How delicious! smile

Baking - I’m baking hot – Me meuro de calor .

Boiling - I am boiling hot - Hace un calor espantoso.

Roasting - Today it is roasting hot. Hoy hace un calor que te asas

Well of course it is cold in England now as it is winter - but here is a cartoon about our summers!
