The idea is to find an English word (synonym –- antonym related to the word – P I C K (sustantivo, verbo) and then write a simple sentence in English and Spanish for that word.

Example:

Pick a card, any card.

Escoge una carta, cualquiera.

The other children picked on him.

Los otros niños se metían con él.

He picks up languages really easily.

Aprende idiomas con mucha facilidad.

I still have difficulty deciding between por or para. - Findy, Nov 23, 2014
In my opinion- por here means I went and bought it because he couldn't go- so I went in his place. Para means I bought it to give him (like as a present). - bosquederoble, Nov 23, 2014
You can really see it in I sang for her. If you use por- it means she was the planned singer, but unable to sing, so I sang in her place (maybe she had laryngitis). Para means I sang to her, she was the audience for the song. - bosquederoble, Nov 23, 2014

Thanks, Bosque! I changed it to para (I hope that's what you meant). ;) - Findy, Nov 24, 2014

The pickpocket, who had a bone to pick with his neighbour, picket the lock on his door, but once inside he was too picky on what to pick. While he stood around picking his nose, his neighbour's dog, who had been picking through the garbage can outside, picked out his scent and he found himself in a bit of pickle. He picked up on the police picking up the phone and say they'd come pick him up. This being no picknick, he clearly had to pick it up a notch, so he picked up his pace taking his pick (a picture and a picked over jar of pickles which he picked off the floor) picked his way through the house and took off in his pick-up truck. Next time he'd pick a fight, he wouldn't pick someone with a dog his own size.

If I had my druthers, I would choose to cross, not to burn the bridge.

Si por mí fuera, escogería a cruzar, no para quemar el puente.

I picked up a stick and trained my dog to fetch the discarded stick and bring it back to me.

Shortly after buying our house, I used to use a pick for gardening frequently, but with time, because the garden has matured, there is almost never a reason to use one, and normally I have to choose other tools.

Here we call them pickaxes. - ian-hill, Nov 23, 2014
You are probably correct for where I live, we probably call the gardening ones pick-axes more commonly, and use pick more for the ones used for mountain climbing. - bosquederoble, Nov 23, 2014
