Princess Diana dies - The royal family reacts.

I'm worried about the poor Queen, she doesn't have knee-high socks like the two princes. Life is unfair and women always have to suffer in order to be beautiful.

What are knee-socks called? - annierats, Nov 28, 2013
I doun't know annie, but you're right...it isn't fair. - 0095ca4c, Nov 28, 2013
Her Maj is wearing flesh coloured long johns.. - ian-hill, Nov 28, 2013
her skin is fine,she doesnt need socks. - osas-baby, Nov 29, 2013
'knee-sock' would be "media", as in soccer uniforms. The rest is "perfectísimo". :) - RelaxingCup, Nov 29, 2013
You can also say: "para estar bellas" for 'in order to be beautiful'. - RelaxingCup, Nov 29, 2013
Gracias, voy a cambiarlos calzetinos por medias. - annierats, Nov 29, 2013

Being rich or royal can't make you beautiful.

Sé rico o real no pueda hacer bello.

I don't know, for their age they look pretty good, the Queen is ancient now. - annierats, Nov 28, 2013
Philip is not bad for a man of 92 either. - ian-hill, Nov 28, 2013
"Ser rico o regio/real no puede hacerte bello" (conjugated as second person but it's in general). - RelaxingCup, Nov 29, 2013

Apparantly Prince Philip was the only one who was not amused by the comment about his bony knees.

The queen laughs, we all laugh. The queen cries, we all head for the hills.

Playing royals is difficult. There are times when we need to look formal on days that we play polo.

Little help, please. Does this mean 'we're having fun' or 'we're funny'? - RelaxingCup, Nov 29, 2013
We are funny amigo. Queen Victoria famously said "WE are not amused" - ian-hill, Nov 29, 2013
Thanks Ian. Then: "Somos definitivamente divertidos." :D Un saludo! - RelaxingCup, Nov 29, 2013
Gracias - but they are not amusing ALL the time :) - ian-hill, Nov 29, 2013
I understand. You have to use "nosotros estamos" to express something that 'we're are (temporarily)'. For example: "Estamos exhaustos". But in this case we are not being amused, we are the origin of that amusement to others. That's why you need "somos". - RelaxingCup, Nov 29, 2013
:--) But "we" are. - pmikan-pam, Dec 2, 2013
