typical

adjective: típico

Thanks Francobollo and Diagonx a.a.o. for helping us out with the Spanish (whenever you can and want!), while we are waiting for our new 'official' corrector!

We are looking for an official corrector of the Spanish sentences for this thread, so if you are interested, please send a PM to either rac1 or me.

As there are lots of native English speakers here, most of them can offer suggestions to the English sentences. I shall try to help as much as I can too, of course.

Here are the rules of the game:

  • Use the word in an English sentence and add the Spanish translation of that sentence. Try to use the word in an original way. Use your own words!

  • Vote for the sentences that you like most.

  • Write sentences of at least 5 words, but don't write paragraphs of 4 sentences or more.

  • Correct your sentences according to the suggestions of the corrector.

  • The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

  • Respect the rules of SpanishDict.

  • Enjoy the game and always keep in mind that all of us are here to learn.

Mi frase/my sentence:

For some reason there are still foreigners who believe that all Dutch people wear these typical wooden shoes all the time:

enter image description here

But that is not true at all, as we also have our party shoes, our home shoes, our summer shoes, ....

enter image description here enter image description here enter image description here

Por alguna razón, todavía hay extranjeros que creen que todas las personas holandesas llevan zapatos de madera típicos como estes todo el tiempo.
Pero eso no es verdad en absoluto, ya que también tenemos los zapatos de fiesta, los zapatos de casa, los zapatos de verano, ...

Yorkshire pudding is the typical English dish that my Dad enjoys most of all, but it is not real pudding.

'Yorkshire pudding' es el plato tipico inglés que mi papá disfruta sobre todo, pero no es pudín auténtico.

Como soy sueca típica , en este momento estoy llevando mis suecos, que son elegantes y sobretodo cómodos.

As I'm a typical Swede, I'm at this very moment, wearing my clogs, which are elegant and, above all, comfortable. .

Pam - No, if their hand can see daylight, then it´s not me. I¨m shorter, and far more buried. - rogspax, May 24, 2013
Franco, thx for the corrections ] and sorry I make so many mistakes. First one is interesting, as "seems like" and "seems that" both work in English, but apparently not Spanish. I'd thought about verdad instead of real on the 2nd, but badly via verdadero - rogspax, May 24, 2013
How recognizable ;-( (but mainly because I postpone these 'typical' days until I have no other choice than do all that paperwork) - mcl020, May 25, 2013

The weather in England at the moment isn't typical for May at all. It's much colder than usual.

El tiempo en Inglaterra en este momento no es típico del mes de mayo en absoluto. Es mucho más frío que de costumbre.

La conversación es típicamente muy incómoda en la primera cita.

Trate de no ser la típica pareja, hable del tiempo si es inglés.

The conversation is typically very awkward on the first date .

Try not to be the typical couple , talk about the weather if you are English.

No offence Ian.
