Find a word related to G I V E

Find a word related to G I V E

7
votes

The idea is to find an English word (synonym –- antonym -- phrase or idiom ) related to the word G I V E (verb) - remember this verb is often part of a phrasal verb

and then

write a simple sentence in English and Spanish for that word. (not Give unless it is a phrasal verb)

Examples:

We like to give presents at Christmas.

Nos gusta dar regalos en Navidad.

Sometimes to give someone a hand is enough.

A veces, para dar a alguien una mano es suficiente.

Pictures would be nice.

Mariana has kindly agreed to be the “official” corrector of the Spanish.

I think I can manage being the “unofficial” corrector for the English, je je

This is the previous challenge

Di mi corazón a usted ,

y prometió darle mucho más

?Pero te llevaste mi corazón,

no he devuelto mi amor,

tengo solo soledad sin amor,

por favor,devuélveme mi corazón.

-

I gave my heart to you ,

and promised you much more,

but you took my heart,

did not return my love,

I have only loneliness without love,

please, give me back my heart.

Muchos prefieren un gobierno en que se espere que la gente sea responsable con lo que se le ha encomendado.

Many prefer a government in which it's expected that the people are responsible with what has been entrusted to them.

When I started, I had to look up nearly every single word to post a sentence. Then I had to go back and correct nearly every single word in Spanish. We've all been there. That's what it's all about. I still make plenty of mistakes but I learn from all - katydew, Nov 2, 2012

To give a life is a much better descion than to take away a life, dont you agree?

Para dar una vida es una descion mucho mejor que quitar una vida, no te parece?

Ser dadivoso es algo que aprendí de mi padre. Siempre llegaba a casa con cosas que había comprado de los vendedores ambulantes (por los que supongo había pagado al menos 5 veces su valor).

Being generous was something I learned from my wonderful Dad. He used to come home loaded with stuff he had bought from street vendors (for which I suspect he paid 5 times their sell price).
