Favorite Song in Spanish
This past weekend, I went to a Mexican wedding with my boyfriend. It was for his uncle and they played only Spanish songs. I found one that I really liked but it was kind of sad. It's called "solo deje yo a mi padre" by Sangre Joven. It's about a son wanting to make a better life for himself in America (up north) but his father was very old and told him not to go because he was afraid that he wouldn't live to see his son return. In the end, the father dies before the son comes home and the son is very remorseful because he found out that the best life was indeed right there with his father. I was just wondering if anyone else had a favorite song in Spanish and if you could also put the translation of the title as well as giving a little summary about what the song is about.

There have been several threads like this one already. Here are a couple.
One of my favorites is "Ingrata" by Café Tacuba. It is a rock song about how he won't forgive this "ungrateful" woman and wants nothing more to do with her. It has an upbeat swing to it and is very catchy.
La Barbacoa by Georgie Dann (The Barbeque)
You don't have to speak much Spanish to think that this song is a blast.
Here are the words and the link to the video.
Now, put it on, sing along and dance around your house!
Este domingo
con todos los amigos
nos vamos para el campo a
comer la barbacoa.
Y nos reunimos
con un montón de gente
hacemos nuestro ambiente
y una linda barbacoa.
Nos llevamos muchas cosas,
las bebidas, las gaseosas,
la salsita, las costillas,
buena carne en la parrilla
el carbón y el chuletón.
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
Que ricos los chorizos parrilleros
(LOS CHORIZOS PARRILLEROS)
Que ricas las salchichas a la brasa
(LAS SALCHICHAS A LA BRASA)
Que buenas las chuletas de cordero
(LAS CHULETAS DE CORDERO)
Que bueno es este vino de garrafa
(ESTE VINO DE GARRAFA)
Voy echando leña al fuego
y siguiendo con el juego,
cuando quieren darse cuenta
las parejas se calientan
y no pueden esperar
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
A mí me gusta
la carne que está tierna
muslitos y pechuga
y hacerlos vuelta y vuelta
Mientras los otros
que comen que da miedo
disfrutan como locos
chupándose los dedos
La vecina que es muy mona,
toma el sol en la tumbona
Yo le hago algo sencillo
pero quiere solomillo,
que le gusta mucho más
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
Que ricos los chorizos parrilleros
(LOS CHORIZOS PARRILLEROS)
Que ricas las salchichas a la brasa
(LAS SALCHICHAS A LA BRASA)
Que buenas las chuletas de cordero

buena carne en la parrilla
el carbón y el chuletón.
Las chuletas de cordero, mama,
Los chorizos parrilleros, mama,
Las salchichas a la brasa, mama,
Ese vino de garrafa, mama,
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
La barbacoa, la barbacoa,
como me gusta la Barbecúe.
Beautiful song.
I can't tell that this is my favourite one, but I can't forget the lyrics. They talk about two loves in life - one that is your wife, mother of your children and other that is far away, prohibited love. Somehow I always remember this duality.
