I know they are a lot of work for the person doing them, but I found them so interesting, and stimulating.

I have tried to do Heidi's "killers", but they are way above my head, and I would really like to be able to try Carlos's audio transcriptions, but I am a little hard of hearing, and rely heavily, even in English, on visual clues from a speaker, so I find that I just can't do them :(

Chaparrito's were ideal for me - hard enough to make me learn something new each time, but at a level where I felt that I actually had a chance of getting them right smile And even when I got them wrong, being told just where it was wrong was so helpful.

So I'm just suggesting, or asking really nicely, if he, or anyone else, might consider doing them again in the future?

Por favor?

Heidita's translation exercises are a great opportunity to make lots of mistakes and thereby learn a lot.

Chaparrito's were also good for the reasons you stated, especially being able to translate without numerous google searches which gives a sense of having made some progress over the last few months.

The audio exercises posted by Carlos directly address one of my greatest weaknesses: understanding spoken Spanish.

Hopefully they will all continue to post these threads.

I just posted one audio-video, where you have to write what you hear and translate.

chaparri has just posted this translation exercise.

Another excercise was posted by yoga.

I really would like to work on my translating too. Thank you for inspiring me. Since I don´t feel advanced enough to properly translate I found a site that has some short poems in Spanish and they are translated into English. I will post one for we beginners to try. This one was not so difficult but I admit, I did have to look up a few words. Here is a link text to the question on the forum.

Wow! Honorable mention indeed! Thank you! I actually didn't think there was much interest in these exercises. I enjoyed doing them, and I'm glad someone enjoys participating. grin Here's one I was saving for Monday, but... wink

And if you haven't yet tried Carlos-F's Listening Exercise, you've got to! It's great practice.

p.s. The 2009 Photo contest did take a lot of time. For that reason primarily I hadn't done an exercise recently. :-) - chaparrito, Jan 16, 2010
I love the translating exercises too! I feel more comfortable doing them than answering questions since if it is wrong, I don´t have someone going, ¨what in the world was she trying to say.¨ I am sure that happens often. Thank you chaparrito for edits. - yogamamaof2, Jan 16, 2010

This is brilliant - thank you everyone grin

It's Sunday morning over here, and pouring with rain - doing this will be much more fun than staring out of the windows and fretting over the gardening that I can't get on with!
