By the way, the same sort of thing (and for the same reason) happens with 'o' ('or') before words that start with /o/ sound. So it's "uno u otro" (instead of "uno o otro").

If the subject is the same in both parts of the sentence, use the infinitive.
If the subject is different, use que + subjunctive.

Voy a llamarte antes de salir.
I'll call you before I leave.

Sorry, I should have explained. It was grammatically correct, but I changed it because I added a "lo" before sé (deleting the yo), and I thought it might be confusing to use another lo so soon and to refer to something different. The first lo refers to your knowing the rule, and the second lo referred to your message. So it was more of a stylistic change.
