spending/having time

Question

Hi, does anyone know how to translate spending time or having time into spanish?
for example if i wanted to say "i like spending/having time with my father because he's funny"

To expand on samdie's good suggestions:

Me gusta pasar tiempo con mi papá porque es tan gracioso.
Me gusta estar con mi papá porque me hace reír.
