En Costa Rica usamos la expresión para dar a entender que no había otra opción para cierta acción. Por ejemplo "tuve que quedarme en casa...ni modo!" Es como decir en inglés "I had no choice".

I was under the impression that this could also be used to mean ¨ni hablar¨or as young people in the U:S. might say ¨¨no way!
