I'm sorry that I don't know how to start to chat in the chat-room. If anyone is kind enough to tell me, I would be very grateful.

I don't think you have to do anything special. Just go to the chat room (if you're logged in, of course) and type whatever you want to chat about in the line at the bottom of the screen. When you hit return it shows up for others to see.

I just tried it, and it seems to work.

Hi Luis

I've looked in the chat room a couple of times and found no one there. I think it would be interesting if someone posted a specific time to be in the chat room, so everyone interested would know when to find someone else there.
