Hello Everybody! Welcome to the Picture of the Day!

Special thanks to Osas Baby again for sending me today's picture

This is a game where we can practice our Spanish and English, but still have fun at the same time!

The rules are very simple and remain more or less exactly as RelaxingCup designed them and H C A student continued.

  • Post your comments/titles/captions to this picture (both in Spanish and English) and vote for the responses you like. The best answer will be chosen soon on the basis of the greatest number of votes as well as the language accuracy.

  • Please, give everyone a chance and only post more or less one caption and no photos.

Please encourage everyone with a vote. smile

. .Please help each other with your English/Spanish sentences. And above all, have fun!

I thought I was safe here, but it is getting awfully hot here.

I just hope that the male hippo doesn't fall in love with me.

Next time I'll look for another animal, who it is lying on the ground, to sleep from time to time.

Giraffe: Who does that idiot think he is fooling?

I had a lot of trouble with this sentence.

I feel your pain, amigo, it seems I struggle on the simplest sentences. ;) - jrschenk, Nov 7, 2015
Gringo, I found a very similar sentence in my Oxford Spanish Dictionary: ¿A quién te crees que estás engañando? I think your sentence is therefore correct ! ;) - FELIZ77, Nov 7, 2015
I hope this helps :) - FELIZ77, Nov 7, 2015
Gring, You have my sympathy, a ' se' or no 'se' ? Uno se cree but giraffes, who knows? - annierats, Nov 7, 2015

Hey, since I am going to play a hippo in the movie, I thought I would try looking at the world through the eyes of a hippo, but I have to tell you, it seemed like a better idea on paper than in reality.

The man looking out of the model rhino: "This is our new observation tool for studying the behaviour of animals in their natural habitat. We hope that the rhinos will not venture (approach) too closely, for they will probably notice that our rhino is not real and if they (were to) chase us we 'wouldn't have a leg to stand on" winklol

Editor's note/s:: I found the expression for " not to have a leg to stand on" (colloq/idiom) = llevar todas las de perder I found this difficult to translate because I had to do it in the past subjunctive ie; if they were to chase us, we would not have a leg to stand on! (We would not have much chance of survival! lol)

You guys thought you were so clever when you designed this thing, but there's one thing you forgot. No toilet facilities.

No entiendo. Doesn't the verb in the second clause have to agree with the noun in the first clause (you guys)? I guess I still don't "get" the reflexive use of "olvidar." Back to the books. - AnnRon, Nov 7, 2015
Having thought it over, I see the correction version of my second clause translating into English as something like "but there's one thing that forgot itself on them," in which case the corrections make sense to me. Am I on the right track now, Pabo? - AnnRon, Nov 8, 2015
That would be "corrected version," not "correction version." Apparently I can't think and type at the same time. It's a real handicap. :>) - AnnRon, Nov 8, 2015
Pablo, not Pabo. Blush. - AnnRon, Nov 8, 2015
pablo sounds like 'pavo' but it is how my little nephew call me since it's hard for kids to pronounce 'blo' - Pablo064, Nov 8, 2015
pavo is turkey but it more common hear it as 'tonto' (silly) 'sos un pavo'... 'que se les olvidó a ustedes' if it makes more sense to you but you can also say 'sola cosa que olvidaron' and you can use 'le' if you wanna sound like someone from Paraguay :) - Pablo064, Nov 8, 2015

After all the fame from their horse, the Trojans decided that they would have to try with another animal if they were going to surprise someone.
