In Spain just '' bola de remolque o bola de enganche''. - annierats, Dec 15, 2014
Thanks Annie. I know someone from Mexico was happy with "enganche para remolque". But what combination is preferred where other than that is beyond me. :) - bosquederoble, Dec 15, 2014

Depósito/tanque de gasolina/ de combustible/de nafta/de bencina

Gas tank/fuel tank

I think depósito is more Spain, tanque Latin America (but am not completely sure), gasolina is gasoline, combustible any fuel (gasoline, diesel). Nafta is Argentina, so tanque de nafta in Argentina. I think it might be tanque de bencina in some regions of the Andes (maybe Chile). I am pretty sure it is tanque de gasolina in Mexico. I think depósito de gasolina for Spain.

I call it a gas tank (even for a diesel vehicle) in my version of American English. I think petrol might be used in British English instead of gas or gasoline, but I am not sure what they call the tank.
