I am glad this car is an automatic because we are too drunk to drive.

Should be: "estamos demasiado borrachos" (temporary state). Otherwise it is correct. My suggestion: "Me alegro de que este coche sea (your beloved subjunctive) automático porque estamos demasiado borrachos para conducir." :D - RelaxingCup, Dec 6, 2013
Gracias amigo - I should have got both of those correct. :) - ian-hill, Dec 6, 2013
How does that work Ian, I never tried that? - pmikan-pam, Dec 6, 2013
Tried what amiga? - ian-hill, Dec 6, 2013
Putting it in automatic and driving drunk Jeje Ian - pmikan-pam, Dec 9, 2013
It is a "play" on the word automatic amiga. It reminds me of the secretary who was told she has an electric typewriter and said " Oh good because I can't type. :) - ian-hill, Dec 11, 2013
Congratulations Ian, very good - pmikan-pam, Dec 12, 2013

I believe in animal rights but it is always the same problem, give them an inch and they take the whole mile.

"pero siempre es/hay el mismo problema, les das un centímetro y ellos toman el kilómetro entero." In Spain we have a saying: "les das la mano y se toman el brazo entero" (you give them a hand and they take the whole arm). Un saludo. - RelaxingCup, Dec 6, 2013

  • Moose Driver: Oh no, it is the cops.
  • Moose 1 in Back: He's going to arrest us for homicide.
  • Moose 2 in Back: What? Don't be stupid. It is only homicide when people kill people.

  • Alce Chofer: ¡Ay! Es la policía.

  • Alce 1 Atrás: Él va a detenernos por homicidio.
  • Alce 2 Atrás: ¿Qué? ¡No seas mensa!

Very good! "Esto", again, means 'this' in general or as something abstract, so it's correct. You can also say "Esta" if you refer to the nightmare (pesadilla - feminine). Un saludo :) - RelaxingCup, Dec 6, 2013
Thanks Annie - pmikan-pam, Dec 6, 2013

I think Frank is the nasty one lol - 0095ca4c, Dec 6, 2013
If that happened once, you should use preterit tense. If that happened regularly in the past, then "marcaba/etiquetaba - marcaba/etiquetaba - embolsaba/empaquetaba" :) - RelaxingCup, Dec 7, 2013
