New Game - Find a word _ _ _ _ D

New Game - Find a word _ _ _ _ D

8
votes

The idea is to find an English word of 5 letters that ends in D.

_ _ _ _ D.

And then write a short sentence in English and Spanish using that word.

Example

She asked me if I wanted to dance.

Ella me preguntó si quería bailar.

tango photo: tango tango-dance.jpg

Eso es todo, fácil ¿no?

pound

(Yo) golpeé la mesa cuándo el hombre dijo, "El pastel de la libra cuesta una libra esterlina."

I pounded the table when the man said, "The pound cake costs one pound sterling."

or

La tarta de vainilla cuesta una libra esterlina. (To give a better idea, even though there's no vanilla in it. lol) Thanks, Francobollo! :D

La tarta de vainilla cuesta una libra esterlina - francobollo, May 26, 2013
That makes sense, Francobollo, although this is a picture of a 'pound cake.' It probably doesn't translate to Spanish and make sense. lol - Findy, May 26, 2013
It's traditionally called a 'pound cake' because years ago, it called for a pound (in weight) of each ingredient. - Findy, May 26, 2013
Yes, I understand the pound cake concept (I get it all the time). You can say bizcocho also. - francobollo, May 26, 2013
bizcocho (sponge cake). Yes, that's kind of the same thing too. In the UK they call it a sponge, and traditionally add 1 lb. of each ingredient as well, but cooked in a regular cake pan. - Findy, May 26, 2013

I knew that was your comment before i saw the name Margherite , yes this sentence worried me , but thought we are all adults here, well some of us are . - ray76, May 26, 2013
No worries raimundo...a very beautiful silk scarf at that amigo. I remember reading somewhere about the tradition of wrapping a man's hands in a silk scarf, but for the life of me I can't remember what country it was. I'm thinking Japan, but maybe not? - 0095ca4c, May 26, 2013
Margherite , you are right it was Japan , but it was used for death, the "Thuggees " in India used a silk scarf to strangle their victims , we get "Thugs " from that word, they were religious fanatics that worshipped the Goddess of death "Kahli" - ray76, May 26, 2013
