Role of the Moderator

Moderators are selected by the administrators of SpanishDict from our community for their helpful contributions and their good judgment. They are charged with enforcing the Spanishdict Forum Rules to ensure that the Question and Answer section is a productive learning environment for the SpanishDict users. Moderators are unpaid volunteers who dedicate their time to make SpanishDict better for us all and we are deeply grateful for their efforts.

Removing, Closing, and Moving Posts

Moderators are active in the forum and review all flagged posts. When a post is found to clearly violate the rules, the Moderator will remove that post, without exception. Moderators will also edit titles, move topics, and close posts to ensure clarity and consistency.

Warning and Banning Users

A user will be immediately banned for egregious conduct, such as posting inappropriate content, advertising, or inappropriate photographs. If a user breaks the rules in other ways, including, but not limited to, off-topic posting, intentional misspellings, poor grammar, or excessive chatting, he or she will be warned by the Moderator. After the initial warning, the Moderator may issue a final warning or ban the user if they continue their inappropriate conduct.

Clarification of Moderator Action

If you need clarification on why your post was removed or why you were warned, reach out to the Moderator directly through a Private Message, which you can send from the profile page of the Moderator.

Conflict with a Moderator

If you have a conflict with a Moderator that cannot be resolved directly, please contact another Moderator first! If you still have a problem you may contact our support team directly using the Feedback tab.

Moderator Commitments

Beyond adhering to the general rules, forum Moderator’s make the following commitments:

  • They will work as a team to create a safe and productive learning environment.
  • They will represent the SpanishDict community in a friendly, positive and educational manner.
  • They will explain the reasoning behind their actions if clarification is requested.
  • They will enforce forum rules and use their professional judgment to moderate the forums while remaining unbiased by personal issues.

If you believe a Moderator is not adhering to these commitments, please let us know using the Feedback tab.

Moderator Appreciation

Moderators devote a considerable amount of time to ensuring that the site is functioning well. Don’t be afraid to send them a message thanking them for their efforts! They will surely appreciate it.
