Here's the steps:

(1) Use your favorite graphics program or (if you are using Windows) open Paint.

[You can find Paint under Accessories in your Programs accessed through the Start Menu.]

(2) Click the colored block which matches your desired color. This will change the foreground color.

(3) Click on the Text Icon (Looks like a capital A).

(4) Use your mouse to click on the white "blank page" and create your text box by dragging your mouse. (NOTE: You may have to go to the Image Attributes to change the size of your blank white "canvas."

(5) Under View (or whatever) choose your font/text Toolbar. Then select the font style, size, bold, underline, italic, etc. attributes you desire.

(6) Type the text you want to display.

(7) Save the completed image in JPEG (or JPG), GIF, PNG or other graphics format.

(8) Go to http://tinypic.com/ and upload your saved file to TinyPic.

(9) TinyPic will process your image file and give you a URL you can use to display it.

(10) Choose the last Direct Link for Layouts URL and paste it into your post using the image icon as you normally would a photo.

Note: For security reasons the server is stripping any HTML or CSS formatting tags before it displays your post. You can go to http://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/dingus to practice and learn MarkDown text formatting. - territurtle, Feb 4, 2012
Just wondering, how does html and css pose a security threat? - Jadey7, Feb 4, 2012
Rather cumbersome to have to post an image to change the color of text, especially if you only want to do one letter in a word. - 0074b507, Feb 4, 2012
Agreed, Qfreed! I'm suggesting the above **only** as a temporary fix until Chris is able to re-implement Rich Text Editing for us again. :-) - territurtle, Feb 4, 2012
Jadey -- naturally -- I'm not going to answer your question in an open, public forum. Chris has enough to worry about! ;)) But feel free to send me a PM (private message), if you like. - territurtle, Feb 4, 2012
Terri, this is great! :D I'll try it now! - PrincessMariam, Feb 4, 2012
Thanks Terri - but I am not going to Princess - I hate being inconvenienced for someone else's convenience. - ian-hill, Feb 4, 2012
Great tips Terri but for me,way too much effort when it already takes me 5 minutes just to write a phrase in Spanish. - Yeser007, Feb 4, 2012
Hey, this is great Terri! I bet I could use this for all sorts of applications! - ajaks, Feb 4, 2012
Good job describing this process, Terri. Time to create reference articles again? But our reference library structure is lost now. - pesta, Feb 4, 2012

Hi!

Here are some easier solutions that might help as well wink

This site offers colored and glitter texts and it's very easy to use!

Put you text, and then to choose the font and the glitter color and then get the codes and paste them here wink

tumblr themes

This one makes normal texts without any glitter and you can still choose a font, color it ... etc

Multi-styled Text Generator at TextSpace.net

this also makes all kind of texts!

l hope this helps! smile

I was going to post a thread about solutions to problems, so I have hijacked this one for this purpose.

I had problems with the feedback button and was claiming that the answer box could not be seen completely.

The issue was that I had my page set to the "old" site, that is a larger display altogether.

To find the feedback button and make reading easier:

Click on ctrl + scroll up or down to make the screen generally either smaller or larger.

This is a good solution for those who think the display of the writing is too small.

Please , can somebody express this better? jeje, Edit my post with more appropriate wording, thanks.

Well, some Markdown coding works.

  1. first item
  2. 2nd item
  3. third item
  • 4th item
  • 5th item
  • 6th itme
Sample quote
cell 11cell 12cell 13
cell 21cell 22cell 23
cell 31cell 32cell 33

basically the ones that we have icons for.

Too bad that Markdown only uses plain text.

Yes, eons ago it was created to be used for simple text without graphics. - territurtle, Feb 4, 2012
Your lists are not "markdown"- they are straight "ol" and "ul" html tags. Markdown list items begin with "1." or with "-". - pesta, Feb 4, 2012

This is how my text will look until it is fixed.

@ anyone

"For security reasons the server is stripping any HTML or CSS formatting tags before it displays your post."

Is this part of the reason the codes for the word of the day, etc is not working?

This is bad in my opinion. For a user not to be allowed to use html defeats a purpose. I would like to see html tags kept. I use them.

My suggestion: Rather than removing them all, for security purposes, at least keep the ones that have nothing to do with security. And have that list in a single location within the reference. I am sending this via the feedback form, too.

Why should I go to another site for colorful graphics and text when I have an understanding of the codes that the internet taught us. - bandit51jd, Feb 4, 2012
