Reward the moderators .....
Ok so I just had this idea - as this site depends so much on the help of moderators it seems a shame that they seem to be the ones who miss out the most when it comes to being voted up and receiving points because most of their work is done in the comments section.
Now I know that we're not here for points but it is one of the fun parts of the site and I have a suggestion for those who create threads that they need others to moderate.
How about after making the thread the creator gets the moderator to open them a blank post. The thread creator then edits the post and adds content like you can see below and accepts it as the best answer so that it stays at the top of the thread. Any votes that the post receives will go where they are best deserved - to the hardworking moderator 
For example let's say we have a very helpful moderator called 'Pedro' who agrees to moderate my thread - after getting him to open me a new post below (by just posting a full stop or something) I would then edit the post and add something such as the following:
If you appreciate the time and effort that Pedro will be putting into this thread by correcting your answers please vote here for Pedro! It will be well worth it because as we all know
if you vote for Pedro your wildest
dreams will come true!
Just an idea anyways, let me know what you think - 
the key is having the moderator start the post so that it's in their name, the votes go to them and the thread creator can accept it as the best answer.
Oh and if we can encourage the moderators to do this, just as a matter of course whenever they are the official moderator on a thread, without feeling embarrassed (after all they totally deserve it), then hopefully the spin off will be that there will be a queue of moderators waiting to be asked to join a thread because let's face it who doesn't like to be appreciated je je Upstairs for thinking people lol.

some kind of recognition how about 5% more on the days tally , that may
make up for what they may lose doing all that extra work.
Yes, there should be some way to reward the moderator. Suppose they put in a post right away. Then people can vote for the moderators post along with the thread creators. Or there could be a moderator section that could be voted on everyday?? I try to go out of my way to vote for the moderators, but if there was a special thread that we could go to to vote for them, that would be great.

Hi KiwiGirl! I'm in total awe of the moderators on this site and I am for any reward system that can be implemented. I'm still learning my way around SpanishDict and haven't paid that much attention to the points system, except when it comes up in a question or as a celebratory milestone on the forum. I know that there are "kings" and a "queen." Maybe a new designation for moderators as "demigods & goddesses"?

I agree Marie....without our mods and to be honest without all who help correct and monitor that don't have the title of moderator....the site would run amuck!! Thank you-all who diligently stay focused on the job at hand. Abrazos a todos....

Lol Terri, I'm not so sure about the 'incredible' business but re the reward the moderator idea - I haven't checked with Cogu yet how she feels about it - Marsh seemed to think it was a good idea so hopefully they'll start working with it on his thread. Chris also liked the idea and was trying to talk DRVicente into it but I think he's shy :(
Perhaps they just need a bit of encouragement
