Lie

The idea is to find an English words or phrases "related" to the word "lie" – verb and / or noun

and

write a simple sentence in English and Spanish for that word.

Example:

Politicians who lie can not be trusted.

Los políticos que mienten no se puede confiar

No se puede confiar en los políticos que mienten Mariana's correction..

...............

...............

Pictures would be nice.

Mariana has kindly agreed to be the “official” corrector of the Spanish

I think I can manage being the “unofficial” corrector for the English, je je

Both msammo, and you learn from it too! It's really hard to find Spanish words for lies, for example, even Mariana is stumped. - annierats, Nov 18, 2011

De vez en cuando quizás cuenta unos cuentos, pero la mayoría del tiempo es un hombre sincero.

Once in a while he may tell fibs, but the majority of the time he's an honest man.

mentiroso - liar

It is a recipe for heartache to marry a compulsive liar.

Es una receta para dolor en la corazón casarse con un mentiroso compulsivo.

To tell little white lies is often easier than telling the truth.

A veces decimos mentirjillas porqué son mas agradables que la verdad.

Little white lie = "Mentira piadosa" o "mentirijilla." Your English sentence does not match your Spanish translation. - --Mariana--, Nov 18, 2011

prevaricate = mentir

Although he did not speak a lie to her he did prevaricate by avoiding the truth.

Aunque él no le habló una mentira, le mintió porque evitó la verdad.

La palabra: engaño = deception.

Some people try to obtain benefits by deception but they nearly always get ''found out''(their crimes are exposed)

= Algunas personas intentan de obtener prestaciones de engaños ...pero invariablemente sus crimenes están* puesto al descubierto

o están* sacado a la luz
