Is this site based on Castillian (Spain) Spanish or Latin American Spanish?
I know that they are similar but I am generally learning Latin American Spanish. I really would like to know what kind of Spanish I am learning so as not to get confused between the two. Can someone please tell me? / ¿Puede alguien decirme? Muchos gracias.

Hello meLlamoWaver and Welcome to the SpanishDict forum ![]()
We have native Spanish speakers from Spain, Central and South America who use this forum and are valuable members of our friendly, loving and vibrant language community and who are willing to help people learn Spanish whatever their choice of emphasis: The Spanish spoken in Spain, Central America eg Mexico or South America eg Colombia, Argentina, ot Chile.
The Spanish teaching videos that our online, qualified, Spanish teacher Paralee Whitmire produces can be helpful whatever your choice of country. She has spent time studying in Peru so has a good understanding of how Spanish from South America is different from mainland Spain.
Spanish can be understood in all Spanish speaking countries of the world but there are, of course, idioms that are unique to individual Spanish Speaking countries and verbs like coger that are used in Spain but would be considered rude in Mexico and some parts of South America like Peru so tomar would be used instead.
I hope this helps ![]()
Please make a search on the site, you will find a lot of answers to that question, thanks.
