Skype chat , pronunciation practice, vowels and consonants

Saturday, July 2nd, 11.30 PM Spain

I have been listening to several of the recordings suggested by Kiwi, great threads by the way and I am inviting everybody who wishes to join me for a pronunciation evening.

I will hopefully have the help of Pacofinkler whose pronunciation is native level, even though his grammar still sucks a bit, jeje, but he is getting there

Some of the recordings are amazing and surprising even.

izan, I had heard him, he was on the chat once But for example dewclaw, a nice surprise.

Some others had really some problems, so much so that even though Julian is very friendly and supportive, I am sure he had , just like me, serious problems understanding.

Paco by the way is always willing to work with anybody who wishes to to work on the pronunciation in private.

In the chat I will give indications on how to pronounce the vowels in different words or short syllables, like co, ca, lo, la etc. My very good friend Chris had a lot of problems with that and he has improved a lot, so I guess anybody can getting the right indications.

I would like to participate , although the shape of my mouth is giving me some

concern , can I be assured that if I reshape it to accommodate the Spanish

Pronunciation that it will not inhibit other more pleasurable activities . I would hate to

be caught walking around looking like a guppy in oestrous.

I will be there....yes, I have improved a lot, but I think that it is a very common belief among all the Skypers that I may be a hopeless case when it comes to pronunciation....jejejej

Thank you for the invite. My first step will be to see if I can figure out how to do a skype connection. I am not always great with that kind of thing, but I did manage to figure out how to do the audio files (although I do admit that if I did not take the link right when I created them, I would have no idea how to find them again). I will work on understanding skype when I get home tonight.

Edit to add:

I looked at the skype site, looks easy enough to sign up to- Once I am home and can do that I will see if I can figure out how you connect. I think 1130 pm Madrid is 530 pm east coast and 230 pm west coast? I am assuming the date will be fixed.

New additon: I downloaded skype, created an account (Seanstadt), and tested it by using the Echo/sound test service call- which did read back my message. It is not readily apparent to me how the contact for the chats work (I read that we will be called but don't know how I figure out that I am being called, or how I answer, etc.) Is there a thread here that explains this in detail? Please keep in mind you are dealing with someone who is somewhat limited in use of modern methods of communication.
