Just as in English there are several formats acceptable for dates. You could write out the year in words or use numerals.

el miércoles, el veinte de septiembre de 1995. (mil novecientos noventa y cinco)

If it´s just the numbers you are interested in for el 20 de septiembre, 1995, it´s

20-IX-95.

I find the Chinese way of writings dates the most convenient of all, because they start with big figures (year), then medium (month) and then small (day). This is the same as normal numbers, like 237: you start with big (200), then medium (30) and then small (7). Why is it convenient? Well, for starters it is easy to arrange files by date just using their names in a computer.

Then we have the opposite approach, which is the one used in most Spanish countries, which starts with day, then month, and then year. No advantages here, but at least is systematic.

The English system is the most disorganized: first medium, then small, and then large. No reason for this whatsoever.

Anyway, this is not exactly the worst problem humanity is facing, right?
