I had a question about that... I thought using "la boca" was better for body parts than "su boca". Is that not correct? If not, when do you know to use "the" for body parts rather than "his/her"? - Luciente, Apr 9, 2011
la boca was perfect, please look at my post at the end of the excerise;) - 00494d19, Apr 10, 2011

I realize that this isn't how it is commonly done, but just for fun, is this how it would be if it were done this way?

All of these sound weird, as we would most likely only use this structure when we want to distinguish between two different people. It depends on the situation, so I have accepted several as correct, as in theory, they are.

1) I'm the teacher. ...... pupils are very good.

2) Mary is here. ...... friend is in the kitchen.

3) Arthur is in the restaurant. ...... food is very good.

4) We are seven pupils. ...... teacher is the boss.

Somos siete estudiantes. La profesora nuestra es la jefa.

5) My book is blue, ...... (tuyo) is red.

El libro mío es azul. El tuyo es rojo.

6) Whose is this chair? It's ....... (suyo de él).

¿De quién es esta silla? Es la de él. grin

7) That's Mary and that's ...... house.

Ésa es María y ésa es la casa de ella.grin

8) The cat is under the table. ....... saucer is empty.

El gato está debajo de la mesa. El platillo de él está vacío.grin

9) Our town is beautiful. And ....... (vuestra)?

La ciudad de nosotros es bonita. Y la de vosotros?..sounds really weird.

10) The cat has got a fish in ....... mouth.

11) The lady has got a lipstick in ....... handbag.

12) This is Mary and ....... mother.

quen, I was looking for , her mother, his mother etc, la madre de ella, are neither adjectives nor pronouns, even though that would be correct, of course - 00494d19, Apr 7, 2011
I know that you wanted the possessive adjectives (long or short form) and pronouns, but I wanted to try what I am least familiar with. - 0074b507, Apr 7, 2011
- 00494d19, Apr 8, 2011

This exercise was designed for students of English.

However, I thought it was a good practice for everybody.

the translation:

I have accepted sentences like

Remember, that in Spanish we do NOT use su boca, su bolso, we just say: el bolso , la boca.

I have accepted it here exceptionally to see if you got the adjective right

Well, as you very well know, there is almost nothing I hate more than having to tell people to read the rules of an exercise, and it is written in bright red!
