ASK A QUESTION Am I correct? Practice using "se passive" formulas.
Context. Practice using "se passive". This is not homework, I'm trying to understand and practice the forumulas:
se + verb (third person singular or plural) + subject (singular or plural)
se + verb (third person singular or plural) + personal a + direct object referring to a person
Study Material is from: Barron's Spanish Pronouns & Prepositions
Please correct my mistakes.

| 6 | Clothes are sold in this store. | Se vende ropa en esta tienda. |
| 7 | Popular music is played here. | Se toca música popular aquí. |

| 9 | The president (m) was elected today. | Se eligió al presidente hoy. |

7) Popular music is played here
If you mean that people actually play (using instruments) popular music there, then "se toca" is accurate. But if what you mean is that popular music is played over the radio or through some other media, then poner (se pone) would be a better a choice.

Apart from the misspelling on "periódico", the sentences are correct. However, only a few of them are passive in Spanish (even though they are all passive in English). Some of them are impersonal (like No. 4 and 8) and others are middle constructions.
- These came from the exercises in the Barron's book. I know your knowledge is pretty good about such things. I think the chapter was talking about English sentences so I'll try and not use this type of terminology for Spanish! Gracias, Lazarus! - bandit51jd Mar 30, 2011 flag
