This exercise is aimed at Students of both English and Spanish.

For Students of English: Transform and translate the sentences using the passive voice, do not use the agent, that is "somebody, they etc"

Intermediate and Advanced students of Spanish: Translate the Sentences using the "se passive" in Spanish.

Heidi asked me for what I think are the correct English passives - so here goes. Fingers crossed!

11)Someone could give me a box of chocolates for my birthday.

A box of chocolates could be given to me (by someone)

12)We haven't seen Peter since Friday.

Peter has not been seen since Friday (by us)

13)Nobody has opened that window for five years.

That window has not been opened for five years (by anybody)

14)They will allow your brother to stay here until midnight.

Your brother will be allowed to stay here until midnight (by then)

15)Did she show her friend the new hat?

Was her new hat shown to her friends (by her)

16)Somebody took her to the hospital.

She was taken to the hospital (by somebody)

17)They will give Mary your address quite soon.

Your address will be given to Mary quite soon (by them)

18)Must you tell her these lies?

Do those lies have to be told to her (by you)

19)Nobody could have bought this silly book!

This silly book could not have been bought (by anyone)

20)Can he have seen her at three?

Could /can she have been seen at three? (by him) grin

You can use the pronoun alone, (Se la llevó al hospital? ) but if you use " a ella", the pronoun is mandatory.
