ivy ~ hiedra or yedra?

ivy ~ hiedra or yedra?

I was just wondering which word is most commonly used for "holly" - hiedra or yedra?

I've heard both (I think!) and have found both in my dictionaries. One of my dictioaries says that "hiedra" is the botanical term, so is "yedra" more commonly used outside of botany?

Thanks again smile

I think hiedra is the term more commonly used by everybody, not just botanists.

I have never seen "yedra"; looks horrible to me.

I think it looks nice - we've got a lot of it in our garden. smile
